Seminole County is located in southeastern Oklahoma, near the borders of Texas and Arkansas, and is part of the Great Plains region. The county was formally founded in 1907 and named in honor of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, whose ancestors immigrated to the area in the 1920s. The district covers an area of 2,150 square kilometers and consists primarily of rolling hills and plains.
